THE OPPORTUNITY

The Director of Healthcare Operations will possess a high level of understanding of how to lead physicians, managers and care teams in a value-based healthcare delivery environment as well as traditional Medicare and commercial payor environments. The  Director of Healthcare Operations will partner with our VIPcare Regional Practice Managers to operationalize 5 Star Service to our patients.  This key team leader collaborates with other team leaders and departments to design and implement thoughtful growth and patient-based services.  Director of Healthcare Operations will work closely with physicians and leadership team to implement our core health care delivery strategies, as well as managing multi region daily clinic operations and driving our expansion efforts into current and new markets.  The role operates in a fast paced and engaging environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: 
    • Partner with Regional Managers, Operations and Medical Director for best practices in Regions
    • Develop and maintain a successful platform - people, process and technology - to deliver on our culture and purpose
    • Works in conjunction with Physician Partners team and Shared Services Departments to support vital functions of Regions
    • Recognize opportunities and work collaboratively to design and implement solutions for clinic operations
    • Serve as additional support to Regional Managers to ensure smooth implementation of clinic acquisitions, moves and openings within region working with members of the M&A and De Novo Teams
    • Meets regularly with Region leadership and support partners (Providers, Regional Managers, Office Managers, Clinical Navigation) to give up to date reporting of metrics and solve for challenges
    • Participates in VIPcare Leadership meetings 
  • Team Building:  
    • Provide physician recruitment support through interviews and on site visits
    • Recruit, develop, train and motivate a best-in-class Regional Manager Team
    • Counsel and coach Regional Managers and Office Managers on leadership tactics
    • Create and set the tone for a culture of 5 Star Service with providers and care teams
    • Support provider relationships (physicians and mid-levels) and serve as escalation point for provider operational or team issues
    • Conduct ongoing one-on-ones and regular reviews with Regional Managers as determined by Team Resources Process
    • Onboard new Regional Managers with orientation to VIPcare culture and monitor/design training program as necessary 
  • Results: 
    • Focus on Quality, Care Management, Stars and Growth with relation to program adherence and results
    • Measure and report KPI’s on behalf of applicable regions
    • Guide, coach and drive the team to meet and exceed our goals 
    • Coordinate resources and departments to set goals and effectively work through Quality and STARS Program for each Region
    • Whiteboard Program Reviews and guidance through regular reviews of workflows and Clinical Navigation Metrics
    • Grow clinics to capacity through health plan and Physician Partner Relationships
  • Collaboration:  
    • Collaborate effectively with other operational team leaders and physicians
    • Communicates annual operational goals and expectations, devises plans to meet objectives
    • Demonstrates extraordinary customer service to all team members and other departments to include regularly scheduled meetings and communication
    • Facilitate Health Plan escalation issues as related to Regions
    • Work collaboratively with the Director of Operations to effectively solve operational challenges and implement solutions focused to improve clinic performance as it relates to additional internal departments.

    • Identify, plan and implement areas of strategic growth within regions for new office expansion
    • Participation in active Physician Recruitment to region clinics
    • Steer region growth deliverables in conjunction with Marketing and Physician Partners

Preferred Education Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or business management, or appropriate experience; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in practice or healthcare management
  • Experience in developing strong physician relationships and able to lead others in initiatives aimed at strengthening patient and physician experience, integrating and optimizing services and developing a motivated, high-performing team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physician group operational and financial performance; revenue generation, cost control, productivity enhancements and patient satisfaction
  • Strategic and tactical skills, including data/metric analysis, action planning, decision support, and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify trends and act on opportunities gained from insights
  • Ability to think critically, solve complex challenges and productively manages conflict
  • Experience and comfort working in a matrixed organization with shared services and resources
  • Possesses dynamic skills in organizational standardization and transformation
  • Demonstrated dedication to the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization
