VIPcare physicians typically see 12-15 patients a day.
We take care of our team so they can focus directly on providing comprehensive care to our Medicare senior patient population.

 

Primary Care Physician Position Objective:

The Physician is an administrative and operational role that will provide exceptional medical care to patients by conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing patient treatment plans. This role is a safety-sensitive position as it involves direct patient care and administering medication. The incumbent will report to the Regional Manager (or similar role) and will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide quality care to patients collaborating with other clinical teams to support team function.

Responsibilities:

  • Practice medicine using sound medical judgment and adhere to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine; know limitations and seek consult when advisable; keep abreast of current technologies and industry standards
  • Meet all clinical obligations of the medical practice: Accrediting Agency compliance, CLIA compliance, drug prescription compliance, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, Safety Regulations, etc
  • Independently provide care for patients with acute and chronic illness encountered in the older adult patient
  • Accountable for patient care and outcomes and will appropriately seek consultation from specialists when needed, though will stay involved in, and be responsible for, the detailed care of the patient
  • Engage with hospitalists whenever a patient is in the hospital
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, manage, educate, promote health, and provide care coordination and documentation for patients with acute and complex chronic health needs using evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines
  • Maintain complete and detailed records, electronically in the EMR, of patients’ health care plans and prognosis, completed within 48 hours of each patient’s visit
  • Provide quality evidence-based medical care in a managed care environment, focused on prevention, and outcomes
  • Exhibit behavior that emphasizes compassion, quality, loyalty, and conscientiousness
  • Interpret data and diagnostic results for an appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood gasses, radiology, EKG, etc. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families, and team members
  • Oversee and supervise Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants when requested
  • Responsible for ensuring that patients are seen at least every other visit by a Physician
  • Additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements / Skills:
  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
  • Active medical license in the state of practice
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to interpret medical tests and results
  • At least 3 years of experience in outpatient primary care experience
  • Prior experience working in an electronic medical records system
  • Provide 5 Star service in accordance with Better Health Group's mission
  • ACLS/BLS certification required as mandated by the state
Additional Eligibility & Qualifications:
  • Ability to use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to document patient encounters
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 Coding and STAR measure attainments
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve complex and multifaceted situations
  • Strong organizational, and task prioritization skills
  • Computer literacy on G-Suite products and database programs
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-placement Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position
Schedule Requirement:
  • This is a FULL-TIME position
  • Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
